An Impact 35 lb saddle sandbag is a straightforward but essential piece of set safety equipment. Its two-sided shape drapes over a stand leg or boom base to add low, stable weight where a rig needs it. The filled Impact model uses weather- and water-resistant Cordura nylon, a double-zipper construction, and a web handle, making it suited to studio floors and carefully managed location work. Place the bag low and on the side that best counters the stand’s load; one bag does not automatically make every setup safe. Add adequate ballast as the head, modifier, boom length, floor surface, or wind exposure changes. Keep bags out of walk paths and never use them as a substitute for correct stand selection, leveling, or a spotter. Inspect closures and handles before use, especially after transport or outdoor work.
